I don't recall saying it was comparable to any gym at any other school, mor did I say it should be tied to any type of consolidation issue. Simply stating the facts that yes in fact there IS a gym regardless of what shape it is in. There is a gym or a room where physical education takes place, would you prefer it be called that?
I think that most people are not getting the point on this gym and the history behind it. The citizens have been trying to get this gym for years, at least ever since the "open" school concept was scrapped. They have always failed to get it while other elementary schools have gotten some kind of "upgrade" one way or another. Let's see, The combined school in Pound got it's gym, Coeburn got their gym, PVPS got their gym( and it is a primary school) and this gym is regulation sized. Most people say, oh, Appy can use either the high school gym or even the gym at the civic center, they don't really need a gym that is regulation size. Name me one school in the county that doesn't have a requlation size gym besides Appy. This gym has been promised to Appy for years and now, it somehow get tied into the consolidation plans? Just another way to say no to the citizen of Appy, I think. Think what you want people, consolidation of the 2-1 plan won't happen, at least in the foreseeable future, son neither will the gym in Appy. What a shame. This gym would have relieved some of the scheduling stress off the atheletic department up there just as it has at every other school.
FYI Mike Mullins is the head of Wise County Social Services. I think he if fully capable of making his own hard decisions.Quote:

In Mullins' case, he has gone along with everything Bates has said, even when they are offering their thoughts at the end of the meetings. I know what he does for a living and he is not the one who determines who gets aid at social services. There are certain guidelines the social workers must follow set by the state of Virginia and the federal government, not him. I know him well and like him as a person, but I still stand by my statement that he is not able to make a decision on his own in regards to consolidation. He can't tell you anything specific about his standing on it other than the fact that he thinks we need to consolidate. Don't get me wrong, I am for consolidation, but with this 2-1 plan, it's just suicide for the county. Let me know if you can get him cornered and tell you exactly why he is for this plan. Odds are, he can't give you a reason.
Says the ***** maplegap who's from pv, or at least has a kid that goes there, yet he has a massive amount of interest. I said if this was the same gym, it's fine. And if it's not, the way it's been described is nothing serious. No one is against them getting the gym, I'm not, none of the members, just don't flip the **** out and try to slow everything else down because you want some regulation floors and rims, like the kids are going to really care. If kids are getting hurt, why aren't the teachers watching them? But gap***** had to run his mouth like he actually knew me, still that 40 something man acting like a child, still pathetic as ever. Last thing I'll argue about with him, he can msg me and *****, not derailing the thread.

Stand back MapleGap- he's gonna throw a t-shirt on you. :DThis is a problem, has been for years and could be solved anytime- it isn't that expensive. However, I'll be the first to admit we have some stubborn folks and since the gym has been needed for 20-some years, it should be taken care of.
Sort of a side note- wonder how long it will take for the St Paul group to figure out they will only be left alone long enough to build the new schools. Since no one else will have any interest in keeping the old schools open anymore, St Paul will be closed and the kids sent to the new schools?
He's already pm'd me threatening to beat my ass and for me to watch my back, that he's going to come find me, so have fun taking sides with that child.
SP has always been against consolidation, so they'll ***** like the other few schools when it happens. Though they'd be getting knew schools, but they'll complain and complain. All of these towns are already ghost towns anyway.
With your skills understanding things, I'd quit school and save yourself ....well, the taxpayers, some time and money. :DQuote:
